Is ABS active or passive?

Is ABS active or passive?

Anti-lock braking systems (ABS) are active safety features designed to help drivers retain steering control by preventing wheels from locking up during an episode of heavy braking. Wheel lock means that the wheels of the vehicle have stopped rotating and as a result the vehicle begins to slide.

How do ABS sensors work?

The changing magnetic field induces an alternating voltage in the coil that can be measured. The sensor creates a AC signal that changes frequency as the wheel changes speed. The ABS control unit converts the AC signal to a digital signal for interpretation.

Is it safe to drive with ABS light on?

Driving with the ABS Light on is not a good idea because it means your ABS is not working properly. This means your vehicle may not handle like it is designed to under heavy braking. If both your ABS Light and brake system light come on, this is an emergency and you need to stop driving right away.
