Set the temperature of a still air incubator to 100-101 degrees F at the height of the eggs. Air will layer, or stratify in a still air incubator, so where the reading is taken is important. Set the humidity slightly higher, 60 to 65% relative humidity during incubation.

What happens if incubator temperature is too low?

If you are a degree or two too low, your eggs will hatch late and with a reduced hatch rate. No matter what your thermometer tells you, if your eggs hatch early or late, adjust your thermostat settings accordingly. Temperature spikes or valleys: This has to do with occasional drastic changes in temperature.

Why is my incubator not working?

Poor results in hatching are commonly caused by the improper control of temperature or humidity. When the temperature or humidity is too high or too low for a long period of time, the normal growth and development of the embryo is affected.

If you aren’t ready to start hatching the eggs right away or don’t have enough eggs collected, you can store them for up to 7 days in a cool (60 degrees or so) spot, at a 45 degree angle, pointy end down. Turning the eggs a few times a day will help keep the yolks centered, which can result in better hatch rates.

Which is better still air or forced air incubator?

Circulated air incubators, also known as forced air incubators, have built-in fans that continually circulate air to maintain sufficient oxygen and keep the temperature even. They are more expensive than still-air incubators but produce a better hatch rate.
