Kingseeker Frampt, the Primordial Serpent, is in a deep slumber beneath Firelink Shrine when the Chosen Undead begins their quest. He wakes after the second bell of awakening has been rung and can be found inside the watery area of the church ruins – his snoring can be heard in the area after the first bell-chime.
Who are the serpents in Dark Souls?

Frampt was a friend of Lord Gwyn and is possibly working with Gwyndolin, as Gwyndolin created the illusion of Gwynevere, which suggests that the Chosen Undead listen to Frampt and Link the First Flame and succeed Gwyn.
Should I side with Darkstalker Kaathe?
Siding with Frampt or Kaathe will not actually affect the ending; their dialogue may influence you in the choice made after defeating the final boss (and, having defeated them, you MUST make a choice and can’t continue the current playthrough).
Can you kill the primordial serpent?
The game contains a death animation for the primordial serpents, which is strange, since you can’t normally kill any of them without cheating. When Kingseeker Frampt is attacked, he simply retreats back to the hole, disappearing for the current playthough.

Frampt will permanently be gone as soon as you speak to Kaathe.
What happens if I place the Lordvessel?
After placing the Lordvessel, the altar in Firelink Altar will also double as a bonfire, and will be kindled by offering Lord Souls. When fully kindled it offers 20 Estus Flask.
